This method serves to identify any mineralization present at significant depths, and provides a precise quantification of its occurrence at specific locations. Exploratory drilling primarily utilizes two techniques: core drilling and percussion drilling, also known as Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling.

Core drilling retrieves intact cylindrical samples of the ground at precise depths, while percussion drilling produces crushed samples composed of cuttings from predetermined depths within the borehole.
